Executive Director

Howard Malone

I am a native of Nashville, Tennessee. My family and I came to Waynesville by way of my 33-year career in the U.S. Army, with two assignments at Fort Leonard Wood (1989 – 1992) and (2005 – 2009). We returned here in 2005 after a 12-year absence. I retired here in September 2009 after 28 years of active duty as a Military Policeman and we decided to make Waynesville our home. My wife Melanie and I raised three daughters in Waynesville, so we have a personal appreciation for what the ARK offers – the premier community activity and fitness experience in Pulaski County. Melanie and I are the lead pastors of The River (church), which owns and operates the ARK Community and Sports Center as the hub of our outreach to the Waynesville/St. Robert/Fort Leonard Wood community, and Pulaski County. If you’ve never visited The ARK, come by and see what a great experience you’re missing! I’ll be glad to give you a personal tour – see you soon!

Operations Director

I was born and raised in Missouri. As a teenager, I got to see The ARK come to life from start to finish.  In 2012, I started working here as a member of the front desk team and occasionally helping out in the childcare room.  From the moment you enter The ARK, you are filled with love and joy from every person you come in contact with. I am so blessed to be a part of this family and able to spread love to our community. A safe place for everyone to come is just the cherry on top.  We welcome everyone to come and join us!  Remember, do everything with love!

My heart has been in the Waynesville area for as long as I can remember. Both of my parents grew up in Richland and as a child I would come here to visit family often. I moved here in August 2004, with my son Keagen. I have also been blessed with two daughters, Brenna and Elizabeth.

I’ve had the privilege of developing relationships in this community by serving in Children’s Ministry, working as a secretary in the elementary schools and raising my own family here.  In April 2017, I joined The Ark team as a Front Desk Associate and assisting in Kids Korner. The Ark has become a part of my family’s life and ministry.

In John 15:12, from God’s Word, He commands us to love one another as He loves us. That love is what you’ll experience when walking through our doors. Please come on in and let us love on you.
